Get ready to experience the first session of SUPER TABLE TOPICS!
what do you do when your friend forgot his/her speech content on the stage? How do you help encourage & get him/her back into the right state again? Or at least add some refreshing air into the awkward silence…?
I’ve been thinking about this quetion…the best I could come up with was to cheer “Gol~~!!” (Seriously, mistake is sth to be celebrated…and this ‘Gol’ thing is from a maestro of Argentine Tango..)
Dan had a different answer, which turned out to be very effective last night.
Ask the speaker questions.
1. What’s the Message?
2. What are the stories/examples/evidence you have for us?
Saved the speaker, saved the audience.
Maybe sometimes we don’t have to take a speech, and the damned stage, too seriously. In any other situation, when your friend get stuck, you definitely will do something about it, to keep the conversation going (instead of sitting there feeling weird), won’t you?
Dear fellow Toastmaster
Hello! My name is Warwick John Fahy – the Founding Chairman of the China Territorial Council. These days I have been mentoring clubs who wish to take their club to a new higher level.
I gave a training to a group of club officers which you may find useful. It’s called “Insights into Service Leadership”.You can download the audio file here http://www.warwickjohnfahy.com/warwicktm.html It has an accompanying PDF file which highlight the main points.
These tips are offered in the spirit of sharing, so please forward them to your Toastmaster friends and feel free to post on your web sites, blog and social media. Appreciate if you can keep the audio and text files in their original format and offer a link back to my web site at http://www.warwickjohnfahy.com. Happy Toastmastering!
