Congratulations, Yingdan Liu, Wendy Wang and Bill Wang

Yingdan Liu DTM was elected District Governor-elect for District 85 at the District Conference this weekend.

Later in the afternoon, Wendy Wang ACB ALB was elected Division Governor for Division D, and Bill Wang ACB was elected Division Governor for Division L, the new Division for CAT. No doubt many other CAT members will be taking on other leadership roles within the District, and we look forward to their success.

This Thursday, TME Jenny Ni CC CL will lead us in a fun-filled meeting.

Table Topics Master Joyce Hu CC CL will warm up our speaking skills by challenging us to give impromptu speeches.

Remember the grammarian report that kept the audience laughing throughout it?  Larry Schuster will be training at the District 85 Annual Conference in May.  We’re honored that he’ll give CAT a preview of this workshop!

Learn how to use humor and exaggeration to correct and improve grammar problems in your club. In this workshop, you will find that a grammarian’s report no longer needs to be an unmemorable list of grammar and word usage errors. Using humor, Larry will show how to make routine grammar and word usage problems come alive in a way you will not forget.  Check out his very new Shanghai Grammar Blog.

We’ll have speeches from Aky, KC and guest Fei Hong from the Leadership club.

Manual: Speaking to Inform | Project: The Abstract Concept (A6)
Objective 1: Research and organize the thought of experts on an abstract concept, theory, historical force, or social/political issue;
Objective 2: Present the ideas in a clear and interesting manner.

Andrew Wang ACB Smoking Should Not Be Allowed in Any Restaurant
Manual: Persuasive Speaking | Project: Addressing the Opposition (A19)
Objective 1: Prepare a talk on a controversial subject that persuades an audience to accept or at least consider your viewpoint;
Objective 2: Construct the speech to appeal to the audience’s logic and emotions.
